Director of Professional Development – for AMLAW100 firm in Washington, DC.  This role is responsible for  developing initiatives, projects and systems to advance the development, retention and promotion of associate lawyers in the Washington DC office and firmwide.

Duties: Build trust with partners and counsel; develop professional relationships with associates, including an in-depth understanding of career goals, experiences, strengths, and development needs to provide coaching and counseling to associates. Oversee the firmwide implementation of the interim and associate evaluation processes for associate. Collaborating with others,  contribute to the Senior Associate Evaluation Process, taking the lead role with associates in assigned practice groups. Meet regularly with senior lawyers in assigned practice groups to discuss associate and counsel pipeline. Work with practice groups on performance management and associate development. Identify individual associate development gaps and propose solutions. Leverage knowledge of assigned practice groups and associate needs to recommend developmental trainings/resources. Develop strategies to create a pipeline of external opportunities for associates by collaborating on secondment opportunities and potential inhouse roles for associates looking to transition out of the firm.  Support stakeholders by providing data and recommendations for utilizing associates. Address the career and general professional needs of associates. Provide guidance to attorneys at varying levels of seniority on career growth and development, including integration into the firm, career planning and management, navigating firm resources, seeking out appropriate breadth and depth of work experiences, time and project management, transitions to/from leaves and potential next steps in their careers. Develop training programs for associate career planning and senior lawyer coaching and mentoring of associates. Implement metrics, reporting systems and tools to assess ongoing attorney needs to evaluate effectiveness of career development programs and initiatives. Manage junior members of the Professional Development team. Lead multi-office professional development projects.

Position Requirements: At least ten years of career development experience. Significant experience in legal, consulting, or other professional services organizations, preferred. Demonstrated success establishing, developing, and managing career development functions in a multi-office environment. Understanding of best practices in professional development and career development. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree or a J.D. preferred. Salary range is $225k -$270k.

Senior Manager of Professional Development – for Washington, DC global law firm.  This is a hybrid role. This role is involved in all aspects of attorney coaching, training, and professional development, including mentoring, professional skills training, and other skill development programs that further professional and career success of attorneys.

Duties: Collaborate with the team and Partners and Practice Group leadership to assist attorneys in pursuing appropriate breadth and depth of work experience. Meet regularly with practice groups to discuss associate and counsel pipeline and work closely with practice groups on performance management and associate development, including advancement, coaching, and training. Regularly check in with associates at all levels of seniority to provide advice and coaching on career growth and development, career planning and management, time and project management, work/life integration, transitions to/from leaves and potential next steps in their professional careers. Provide ongoing analysis of workloads and track skills and experiences needed to make staffing  recommendations, considering practice group needs as well as associate development goals.  Identify associate career development needs, manage implementation of programs relating to attorney career development. Create firm relationships at all levels as a trusted advisor to practice group heads, MPLPs, Assigning Partners and Associates. Assist in administration of performance evaluation processes, focusing on the associate and interim process. Oversee, monitor, and continuously improve the attorney mentoring programs, including developing and implementing communications, training initiatives, and related programming and events. Manage fall and lateral associate onboarding and integration processes for the Washington, D.C. office (including fall orientations and new associate onboarding series). Manage and further develop Integration Liaison Program. Supervise and develop the junior members of the Professional Development team in the Washington DC office. Monitor current trends and best practices in legal talent and professional development. Participate in multi-office professional development projects. Uphold high standards of confidentiality, discretion, and integrity.

Position Requirements: Must have at least eight to ten years of career development experience, ideally in a large law firm. Significant experience in legal, consulting, or other professional services organizations, preferred. Proven success establishing, developing, and managing career development functions in a multi-office environment. Expert understanding best practices in professional development and career development. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Highly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree or a J.D. preferred. Coaching experience and certification a plus. Salary range: $178k - $210k commensurate with experience .

Professional Development Manager – for global law firm in Washington, DC.  This is a hybrid role.  Duties: Design and administer programs relating to attorney career development. Work closely with Directors, assign Partners, and Practice Group Chairs to assist attorneys with advancement issues. Create and maintain relationships within the firm at all levels, as a trusted advisor for career advice and guidance. Provide confidential advice and guidance to attorneys on all aspects of career growth and development, including career planning and management, time and project management, work/life balance, transitions to/from leaves and potential next steps in their professional careers. Meet with associates and counsel to welcome them to the firm and provide them with resources available to them through the Professional Development Department. Identify individual associate, counsel training gaps, and propose solutions. Provide support to the Directors, assigning Partners, and Practice Group Chairs regarding counsel needs including utilization. Provide ongoing analysis of utilization; track skills and experiences needed to help optimize lawyer development opportunities and assist with data analytics relating to the counsel population. Support the Counsel Evaluation process, including by reviewing evaluation information and debriefing with Practice Group Chairs afterward. Support the annual Goals Meetings of the special counsel population. Oversee process of attorney personnel changes, including managing junior team members who maintain department databases, focusing on integrating information kept in various technology platforms, and collaborating with other departments as we share information. Develop a robust system for measuring the effectiveness and ROI of coaching programs (internal and external), utilizing data-driven insights to inform strategy, suggest adjustments and make improvements. Develop and implement strategies to create a pipeline of external opportunities for lawyers, both by collaborating with others on secondment opportunities and keeping abreast of potential in-house roles for associates looking to transition out of the firm. Assist Directors with department budget for initiatives and programs. Supervise the more junior members of the DC Professional Development team. Monitor current trends and best practices in legal talent and professional development - implement new innovations, as appropriate. Uphold high standards of confidentiality, discretion, and integrity with respect to all sensitive and/or confidential firm and client information. 

Position Requirements: At least five years of career development experience, ideally in a large law firm. Significant experience in legal, consulting, or other professional services organizations, preferred. Proven success developing and managing robust career development functions in a national or international, multi-office environment. Understanding of best practices in professional development and career development. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Passion for driving change and delivering innovative solutions. Organized and self-directed approach to work with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Impeccable attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Sound judgment. Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree in organizational development, human resources, social sciences, a related field, or J.D. preferred. Coaching experience and certification preferred. Salary range: $140k -$176k depending on candidate experience and location.

Talent Data Analyst – for large law firm in Washington, DC.  This hybrid role interprets data into insights to develop technical solutions. This role works closely with Talent teams to recommend actions based on data.

Duties: Collaborate with Attorney Recruiting, Professional Development and Staff Recruiting teams to determine ways to deliver insights. Serving as a trusted advisor to leadership by providing context, interpretation, and recommendations. Develop/maintain dashboards that support recruiting/attrition/ evaluations/performance initiatives. Synthesize complex data into clear narratives, summaries, and visualizations. Providing insights/recommendations to inform decision-making. Confirm data accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality in reporting. Create clear documentation for stakeholders who use reports and dashboards. Lead cross-departmental communication with Workforce Information Systems, IT, and other teams. Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes. Recommend user-focused enhancements. 

Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree. Must have a minimum of two years of experience in a data analytics, business intelligence, or related role. Experience using business intelligence tools (such as Power BI) to create reports and dashboards. Knowledge of SQL for data extraction and analysis. Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft M365. Ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights for non-technical audiences. Strong interpersonal skills. Experience gathering requirements modeling analytical work to address real business needs. Ability to provide context, interpretation, and recommendations. Familiarity with data visualization best practices. Ability to produce clear concise business documentation. Law firm experience is ideal. Experience with UKGPro, Aderant, Intapp or similar. Legal Personnel Coordinator – for top tier global law firm in Washington, DC.  This is a hybrid role supporting legal recruitment.   

Duties: Support annual associate and staff attorney bonus and compensation programs. Assist with Legal Personnel budget/expense management. Provide administrative support for attorney departures, including document tracking and trend reporting. Support the attorney bar admission process. Prepare, audit, and submit annual master ABA and DC Bar bills. Prepare documentation regarding changes in attorney status such as arrivals, departures, leaves of absence. Track attorney leaves absence, secondments, and clerkships. Respond promptly to requests for attorney data, market research, and analysis for internal and external purposes. 

Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree. Must have at least two years of administrative support experience in a law firm or professional services firm. Proficiency with MS Office Suite. Experience with viDesktop and Smartsheet ideal. Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Salary range is $64k - $75k depending on experience.  

Attorney Recruiting Specialist – for prominent law firm in San Francisco.  This is a hybrid role.  This role supports the San Francisco/Silicon Valley offices and is focused on assisting with summer associates, entry-level associates, and lateral attorney recruitment. The Specialist works closely with the Director,  hiring partners, and Professional Development team ensuring a positive candidate experience. 

Duties: Assist in developing/executing campus recruiting strategies. Manage the on-campus interview process. Coordinate law student outreach initiatives and maintain strong relationships with career services professionals, faculty, and former summer associates. Represent the firm through participation in NALP. Oversee the callback interview process. Plan and execute callback events and offer visits. Coordinate weekly decision meetings. Lead planning and implementation of the San Francisco/Silicon Valley summer associate programs. Support summer evaluations and exit processes. Collaborate with the Director to assess lateral hiring needs. Build relationships with legal search firms. Manage lateral candidate processes. Support specialized hiring initiatives. Facilitate successful integration of new associates. Maintain and update applicant tracking systems. Prepare recruiting reports and metrics. Assist with annual survey submissions. 

Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree. Must have at least four years of recruiting experience in a law firm or professional services firm. Strong understanding of recruiting principles, compliance requirements, and candidate experience best practices. Proficiency in MS Office and applicant tracking systems. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with exceptional attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Client-service orientation. Flexibility to work OT.  Salary range is $76k - $110k depending on experience.

Attorney Recruiting Assistant – for prominent law firm in Washington, DC.  This is a hybrid role.  This role supports the summer associate summer program, lateral, judicial clerk and staff attorney recruitment.   

Duties: Assisting the Attorney Recruiting Manager in planning the summer associate program in Washington, DC including planning events, coordinating summer associate arrival and departure dates, and assisting with assignment evaluation collection, as needed. Coordinating law school career services team and faculty to raise the firm’s profile on campus; scheduling career development meetings; interacting with the network of former firm summer associates. Working with the recruiting team and Hiring Committee to implement an overall recruitment strategy. Assisting with callback interview process. Coordinating the on-campus interview process. Planning offer dinners/receptions. Coordinating campus outreach events. Preparing reports and statistics. Assisting the attorney recruiting team to hire and integrate judicial clerks, entry-level and lateral associates, and staff attorneys. Posting open positions on the firm’s external website and other job boards. Maintaining applicant tracking system. Supporting the pre-employment process. Liaison for new employees with other firm departments. 

Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree. Prior attorney recruiting experience in a law firm, or professional services firm. MS Office proficiency, experience with viDesktop platform is a plus. Knowledge of recruitment principles in a law firm environment. Understanding of current regulations associated with a lawful recruiting process. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. Flexibility to work additional hours as needed. Salary range is $52k - $58k.
