Senior Manager of Professional Development – for prominent worldwide law firm in Washington, DC.   This is a hybrid role.  The Sr. Manager collaborates with stakeholders on overall attorney professional development and assists with leading professional development strategies firm wide.

Duties: Works closely with Professional Development stakeholders and assists associates with integration/advancement concerns such as navigating firm resources, seeking out appropriate scope of work experiences, maximizing resources, successfully managing interpersonal conflicts, and addressing career advancement concerns. Meets regularly with practice groups regarding associate/counsel pipeline, works closely with practice groups about performance management/associate development, including coaching/training. Provide guidance on career growth and development, including career planning, time and project management, work/life balance, transitions, and potential next steps in their professional careers. Provide ongoing analysis of workloads. Identify associate career development needs, and design and manage the implementation of programs relating to career development. Identify individual associate training gaps and propose solutions. Create relationships within the firm at all levels, establishing a reputation as a trusted advisor. Working closely with the Professional Development team, oversee performance evaluation processes, focusing on the associate process. Oversee attorney personnel change processes, integrating information from various technology platforms and collaborating with other departments to share information. Develop a pipeline of external opportunities for associates, by collaborating with others on secondment opportunities and potential inhouse roles for associates looking to transition out of the firm. Manage junior members of the Professional Development team in the DC office. Monitor trends and best practices in legal talent and professional development and implement innovations to ensure firm efforts are innovative. Participate in multi-office professional development projects.

Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required.  At least 8 years of career development experience in a law firm, consulting, or professional services firm. Prior success managing career development functions in a national or international, multi-office firm. Skilled understanding of best practices in professional development and career development. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Salary range is $154k- $200k commensurate with years of experience.

HR Manager – for prominent global law firm in Washington, DC.  This is a hybrid role.  This role is responsible for HR Generalist Management. This role encompasses best practices, policy/procedures, EEO compliance, training programs, evaluation process, terminations, HR management system, and management of employment information.

Duties: Collaborates the Director of HR to manage staff annual evaluation process. Assist with communicating performance evaluation information to staff. Assist with processing employee complaints and/or grievances and determination of appropriate actions. Consult with Sr HR team regarding employee relations matters. Collaborate with the Professional Development Team regarding training initiatives, Associate onboarding and alignment of broad HR objectives. Ensure legal compliance in all areas. including Title VII, FMLA, ADA, FSLA, HIPPA, Workers Compensation, labor law postings and other Federal and local laws and statutes. Management of the DC office exit interview process. Management of electronic employee files system and e-training platform and local training. This role is the point of contact for all immigration-related matters in collaboration with members of the Professional Development Team.  Manage visa applications/renewals/expirations (e.g., H-1B, L-1, O-1, TN, F-1 OPT/CPT). Coordinate with legal counsel and government agencies to ensure timely processing. Maintain records for all sponsored employees. Monitor changes in immigration laws/regulations and update internal policies. Support global mobility initiatives, including expatriate assignments and relocations. Uphold high standards of confidentiality, discretion, and integrity.

Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree. HR Certification preferred. Prior similar experience in a law firm preferred. High level of customer service orientation and strong interpersonal and written communication skills. At least five years of experience in an HR Generalist role is required. Prior supervisory/team management experience necessary. Strong MS Office proficiency required.  Salary range is $118k - $148k commensurate with experience.

Professional Development Manager – for top tier global law firm client in Washington, DC.  This is a hybrid role.  The Manager role is focused on all facets of lawyer professional development and in guiding professional development strategies firm wide.

Duties: Assist in identifying associate career development needs. Manage execution of programs relating to attorney career development. Assist associates with integration issues, explaining firm resources, successfully managing interpersonal conflicts, and addressing career advancement questions. Provide confidential guidance to attorneys on career growth and development, including career  planning, time and project management, work/life balance, and next professional career steps.  Welcome new associates to the firm and provide them with available resources.  Provide support to Management regarding associate needs including staffing/utilization. Provide ongoing analysis of workloads.  Identify individual associate training gaps and propose solutions. Maintain relationships within the firm at all levels, establishing a reputation as a trusted advisor for career advice/guidance. Oversee performance evaluation processes in coordination with Directors, focusing on the Senior Associate and Counsel Evaluation processes, working with the Evaluation Committee. Oversee attorney personnel change processes. Collaborate with Directors of Professional Development to develop a system for measuring the effectiveness and ROI of coaching programs, using data-driven insights. Implement strategies to create a pipeline of external opportunities for associates. Assist Director with DC budget for initiatives. Manage junior members of the Professional Development team in DC office.

Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree or a J.D. preferred. Must have at least five years of career  development experience in legal, consulting, or other professional services organizations. Proven success developing/managing career development functions in a multi-office environment. Thorough understanding of best practices in professional development/career development. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Ability to manage  multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail. Salary range is $118k - $178k plus bonus and generous benefits package.
