Conflicts Attorney – remote - for top tier global law firm. The Conflicts Attorneys address conflicts of interest arising from taking on new work, new clients, or new hires. Other duties may include responding to RFPs or requests for information from insurers, assisting in aspects of new client/matter intake, establishing, and ending attorney-client relationships, and other related areas.

Responsibilities: analyzes results from conflicts database and outside source searches to identify potential/actual conflicts posed by new work or new hires. Advises attorneys regarding conflicts clearance. Drafts conflicts waivers or takes other steps to cure conflicts. Supervises the work of the nonlawyer conflicts staff. Documents or audits steps taken to clear conflicts. Works with ethical walls and screens managed within Intapp Walls tool. Maintains the conflicts database with appropriate information about firm clients and matters, client subsidiaries, affiliates, etc. On-call coverage on weekends/holidays as needed. Assists London team members with overflow anti-money laundering compliance activities.

Position Requirements: Law degree from an accredited law school required. Bar membership in the jurisdiction where the Conflicts Attorney is located required. Law firm conflicts experience required. Familiarity with the Model and D.C. Rules of Professional Conduct or analogous rules in other jurisdictions. Familiarity with anti-money laundering compliance regimes is ideal. Strong legal/business research ability using various online databases and print resources required. Familiarity with modern business organization models, structures and ownership is required. Excellent analytical, written and interpersonal communications skills. Ability to distill a quantity of complex data into a clear explanation of the legal issue and recommended steps to be taken. Excellent judgment, including knowing when to escalate an issue. Demonstrated customer service focus. Facility with MS Office required. Familiarity with Intapp OPEN or other automated conflict of interest clearance workflow as found in AmLaw 100 firms. Supervisory experience or capacity to provide instruction in a business setting. Salary is commensurate with experience $176k - $220k.

Senior Staff Attorneys – remote - for a top tier law firm.  Positions are remote but candidates must live within commuting distance to an office in Los Angeles, San Francisco or Palo Alto, California.  These roles are primarily responsible for supervising teams of Staff Attorneys and/or contract attorneys working on large litigation, investigatory, and regulatory matters in the discovery phase. The Senior Staff Attorneys guarantee the review teams are meeting quality/output expectations and function as liaison between the review team and the associates/partners on  cases. Senior Staff Attorneys may also perform document review and analysis work.

Duties: Supervision of document review teams ensuring team members are working efficiently and meeting quality and output expectations. Coordinate communication between document review team and the associates/partners on the case. Coordinate with the technical litigation support group and/or eDiscovery vendors to resolve end user problems with databases and review systems. Review/analyze/categorize documents/information in online-document review databases and/or hard-copy collections. Assist with review quality control and review metrics reporting processes. Assist in preparing privilege logs and similar tasks.

Position Requirements: JD from accredited US law school. Must have a minimum of three years of document review supervisory experience in an AMLAW 100 or 200 law firm working on large litigation matters. Must have active/current good standing status in the CA Bar. Organizational, interpersonal project coordination, strong service orientation skills required.  Flexibility to work OT and help others with deadline intensive projects. Strong prior experience with discovery document review projects and typical workflows. Significant experience with on-line document review systems; Relativity, Nuix Discover, or similar. Fluency in a second language in addition to English is preferred but not required. The salary is $130k plus paid OT, bonus and generous benefits.

Senior Staff Attorneys – remote - for a top tier law firm.  Positions are remote but candidates must live within commuting distance to an office in Washington, DC, NYC, or Boston.  These roles are primarily responsible for supervising teams of Staff Attorneys and/or contract attorneys working on large litigation, investigatory, and regulatory matters in the discovery phase. The Senior Staff Attorneys guarantee the review teams are meeting quality/output expectations and function as liaison between the review team and the associates/partners on  cases. Senior Staff Attorneys may also perform document review and analysis work.

Organizational, interpersonal project coordination, strong service orientation skills required.  Flexibility to work OT and help others with deadline intensive projects. Strong prior experience with discovery document review projects and typical workflows. Significant experience with on-line document review systems; Relativity, Nuix Discover, or similar. Fluency in a second language in addition to English is preferred but not required. The salary range is $100k - $110k plus paid OT, bonus and generous benefits.

 

Senior Staff Attorneys – Litigation Focus - for global law firm client. This role can be remote but candidates must live within commuting distance to one of the office in DC, NYC, Palo Alto, San Francisco, Los Angeles or Boston. *Ideal candidate has litigation experience as an Associate in a law firm, or experience in a clerkship, or as a litigation paralegal before becoming an attorney. Significant experience managing large litigations at a senior staff attorney level or experience running TAR/CAL projects is required. This role is responsible for coordinating with the eDiscovery, AI, and Information Governance practice group to support large litigation, investigatory, and regulatory matters in the discovery phase.

Responsibilities: Coordinate with internal practice teams to ensure that case-specific eDiscovery processes are implemented/milestones met. Coordinate communication between the Staff Attorney department and the associates/partners responsible for the case. Work with litigation support group and eDiscovery vendors to support document preservation, collection, and processing efforts. Assist with preparation of privilege logs and similar tasks for document review/production projects.

Position Requirements: A JD from an accredited US law school or equivalent. Relevant technical certifications are ideal. At least five years of eDiscovery experience in AMLAW 100 or 200 firm environments working on large litigation, regulatory, or investigation matters at all phases of the EDRM. Good standing in DC, NY, MA, or CA Bar. Litigation experience, including responsibilities associated with discovery. Excellent organizational/interpersonal skills with a strong service orientation. Ability to work under pressure and flexibility for OT is required. Strong working knowledge of discovery document review projects and typical work-flows. Significant experience with on-line document review systems such as Relativity, Nuix Discover, or other similar. Advanced proficiency with Excel. Salary is commensurate with experience $150k - $175k plus generous benefits.

Client Agreements Advisor - REMOTE - for top tier global law firm. *Must live with in commuting distance to the DC office location. This position is in the Compliance department. Ideal candidate is an attorney with doc review experience or contract revewing experience, or compliance experience. This role requires a high attention to detail and fortitude to review and absorb multiple long contracts day to day consistently. This position is responsible for leading analysis of/response to client terms of engagement. This analytical role ensures that agreements to non-standard terms are consistent, mitigate risk, and to the extent possible reflect business interests of the firm. Candidate will advise and work with the Client Agreements Manager and senior attorneys to manage the review, response and implementation of non-standard terms.

Duties: Develop/maintain knowledge of business policies and practices, legal and ethical considerations, insurance requirements and guidance relating to firm agreements. Assess outside counsel guidelines and other non-standard terms to identify potential issues. Draft internal assessments and proposed approaches based on evaluation. Lead senior attorneys in discussions of issues, considerations, and proposed approaches. Prepare client-facing comments and responses to terms. Coordinate with senior attorneys regarding discussions and negotiations with clients. Respond to due diligence questionnaires. Manage outside counsel guidelines database and share key information with all necessary stakeholders. Conduct extensive research using firm databases, business research resources and discussion with internal subject-matter experts.
