Client Relations Manager – for a highly regarded global law firm client. This is a hybrid role and can be based out of Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Palo Alto CA, Washington, DC, Boston, or NYC.
Ideal candidate is an experienced, results-oriented Client Relations Manager with a success record of identifying/pursuing opportunities to grow key client relationships. This is a high visibility role that collaborates with senior lawyers, and the global business development team, supporting systematic programs/initiatives to leverage highest value expansion efforts.
** Ideal candidate has substantive involvement in client account targeting/business generation initiatives and has law firm experience.
Duties: Work to develop and benchmark against annual client plans to expand strategic growth. Facilitate meetings between relationship managers, senior stakeholders, and clients. Identify opportunities with clients and connect appropriate firm lawyers to pursue opportunities. Encourage use of marketing dashboards as a daily management tool to spot opportunities for collaboration. Collaborate with other Marketing & Business Development team members to assure coordinated approaches with key firm initiatives. Analyze industry, client, and market data to proactively identify potential client needs. Support initiatives and project manage new business generation efforts. Proactively work with the team on pitches, RFPs, and RFIs. Conduct prep sessions with attorneys prior to client meetings. Track win/loss record. Create compelling pitch materials. Leverage market research team to analyze market opportunities. Mentor/train junior client relations team members the correct protocols for organizing/maintaining key client plans, notes, emails, and details in Salesforce. Monitor compliance.
Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required. MBA is a plus. **Must have at least five years of related/similar client relations or business development experience in law firm. Proven success in marketing/business development. Previous law firm experience is ideal. Excellent interpersonal and written communications skills. Leadership and initiative skills. Advanced skills with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with Salesforce is a plus. Salary – 153k – 225k, commensurate with experience and location.
Business Development Manager – for a powerhouse global law firm. This is a hybrid role and can be based out of the Washington, DC, Boston, MA, or NYC office. This position supports the internationally recognized International Arbitration and Litigation practices. Candidate will collaborate with the key practice group leaders in Litigation and Investigations and senior lawyers, as well as the Marketing/BD team ensuring successful business development/strategy/external communications. *Ideal candidate has experience in litigation and/or transactions business development.
Responsibilities: Work with senior practice group attorneys on BD strategy. Develop and monitor business plans. Develop BD budgets. Preparation/follow-up for quarterly meetings with Management Committee. Work with other Marketing/BD team members to identify clients and contacts to be targeted for specific opportunities. Implement business development initiatives and programs around new business generation. Prepare targeted client pitch materials. Leverage the Marketing Research team analyze market opportunities. Coordinate with members of the BD team on cross practice pitches. Support strategic/logistical aspects of the lateral integration planning process for new lateral attorneys. Identify external sponsorship and speaking opportunities. Recommend thought leadership and CLE programs for clients and prospects. Draft targeted submissions for relevant practices for directory listings and other awards, including Chambers. Develop website content, brochures, and other external communication pieces. Develop segmented client/prospect mailing lists. Assist with supervision of litigation BD specialists.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree. At least three years of experience in a law firm or professional services marketing/business development role. Prior success in law firm marketing and business development. Previous law firm BD experience working with litigation and/or transactions teams is preferred. Strong interpersonal and written communications skills. Demonstrated leadership. Experience mentoring team members is a plus. Proficiency IT and software for marketing including databases and knowledge management tools. Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required. Salesforce exposure is a plus. Salary range is $176k - $247,5k depending on experience and location.
Business Development Proposal Manager – for top tier global law firm. This is a hybrid role and can be based out of Washington, DC, NYC, or Boston, MA. This role specifically and solely focuses on proposals, RFPs, RFIs, and working with attorneys in this process. The Proposal Manager is a key member of the Marketing and Business Development Department. This role drives strategy/execution of large-scale, strategic RFP/RFI responses, management of the global panel development program, and other business development initiatives. Primary responsibilities for this role are managing responses to RFPs/RFIs from inception to final product, this role also provides has an opportunity to participate in interesting and important business development activities.
Duties include: Lead process for responding to large-scale, cross-practice, strategically important and/or firmwide RFPs/RFIs. Building strong relationships with the business development team and other departments that contribute to RFPs, Coach and prepare attorneys for client pitches and presentations. Ensure participation in post-RFP evaluations. Obtain feedback to propose process improvements. Maintain all RFP-related activities and materials within the centralized CRM system. Leading role in maximizing the panel appointments through the global panel development program. Working closely with relationship lawyers to identify opportunities to drive growth of client panels. Suggest and support additional improvements to the firm’s proposal and pitch process.
Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required. Must have at least three years of experience in law firm or professional services marketing and business development. Previous law firm experience is preferred. Proven project management skills. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Demonstrated leadership/initiative. Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required. Salesforce skills a plus. Prior experience with procurement portals such as Persuit and Ariba ideal. The salary range is $112k - $165k based on experience level and location.
Business Development Manager – Regulatory - for top tier global law firm. This role supports the Regulatory practice group including ESG, Energy, Environmental, Business and Human Rights, and Advertising and Consumer Protection Investigations. This is a hybrid role and can be based out of the Washington, DC, Los Angeles, CA, or San Francisco, CA offices.
Duties: Work with attorney stakeholders and Marketing/BD team members to develop and monitor business plans ensuring with clearly stated milestones tied to business goals. Develop budgets for assigned groups. Work with practice and industry group leaders on preparation/follow-up for quarterly meetings with the Management Committee. Work directly with attorneys to implement business development initiatives/programs for new business generation with existing clients and prospects. Prepare targeted client pitch material. Leverage Marketing Research team to analyze market opportunities and assist attorneys/groups with preparation for client meetings. Coordinate with members of the BD team on cross practice pitches and other efforts. Recommend thought leadership and CLE programs for clients and prospects.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required. At least three years of experience in law firm or professional services marketing and business development, with a demonstrated background of accomplishment. Excellent interpersonal skills and written communications skills. Demonstrated leadership and proactivity/initiative. Prior experience supervising direct reports ideal. Ability to provide consistent and high quality work under tight deadlines. Experience with information technology and software for marketing, including databases and knowledge management tools. Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required. Salesforce a plus. Salary: $170k - $250k (commensurate with experience)
