Business Development Manager – Corporate/Financial Institutions – for a globally recognized law firm client. This hybrid role can be based in Washington, DC, Boston, MA or NYC.
This role is responsible for driving strategy and identifying initiatives for the corporate, FinTech, Real Estate, and financial services practice groups. This role is a key part of the global Marketing & Business Development team. Candidate will work directly with practice group/industry group leaders, as well as the broader Marketing and Business Development team ensuring valuable client development, marketing, and external communications programs to increase revenues and elevate the firm’s profile.
Duties: Collaborate with attorney stakeholders to develop strategic business development plans for assigned practice groups, including fiscal year plans, individual goal statements, and specific initiatives. Develop marketing & BD budgets for assigned practice groups. Primary point of contact for practice group leadership and broader partnership. Implement business development initiatives and programs around new business generation with existing and new clients. Prepare client pitch materials and conduct preparatory sessions with attorneys prior to client meetings. Attend regular practice group meetings with the Firm’s Management Committee. Recommend thought leadership and CLE programs for clients. Lead integration of lateral attorneys within assigned practice groups. Counsel lawyers on personal business development goals. Work closely with PR team to identify and leverage media opportunities.
Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or JD a plus. Minimum of three years of experience in law firm or professional services marketing and business development. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Fluency with marketing information technology and software including databases and knowledge management tools. Proficiency with MS Office required; proficiency with Salesforce a plus. Salary is $159k - $204k++ or more commensurate with experience.
Business Development Manager, Litigation and Investigations practice group. This is a hybrid role, and candidates can work out of any of the following office locations: Washington, DC, New York, NY, Boston, MA, Los Angeles, San Francisco or Palo Alto, CA. This role works with the Director, practice group leaders and senior lawyers. The ideal candidate has a background in litigation business development/marketing.
Duties: Develop marketing/BD budgets for assigned groups. Work directly with senior lawyers to implement business development initiatives/programs around new business generation. Prepare targeted client pitch materials, including responses to RFPs, and conduct prep sessions with attorneys prior to client meetings. Leverage the Marketing Research team to analyze market opportunities and assist attorneys/groups with preparation for client meetings. Coordinate with members of the BD team on pitches and other efforts. Identify sponsorship and speaking opportunities. Recommend thought-leadership and CLE programs for clients/prospects. Provide support for practice events. Draft targeted submissions for relevant practices for directory listings and other awards. Develop practice-specific and geographic-focused marketing materials. Develop and maintain website content, brochures, and external communication pieces. Assist with supervision of litigation BD specialists.
Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree. Must have at least three or more years of experience in law firm or professional services marketing and business development. Prior law firm BD experience working with litigation and/or transactions teams is desirable. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Demonstrated leadership and initiative. Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required. Salesforce experience is a plus. Salary range is $159k – $208k dependent on experience and location.
Senior Manager, Business Development, Information Governance, Data Privacy and eDiscovery, for top tier law firm. This is a hybrid role based out of Chicago, IL, or Northern Virginia. This role partners closely with senior stakeholders to advance high‑value opportunities and execute programs that strengthen client relationships.
Duties: Identify high‑value client and prospect opportunities. Conduct market research and prepare BD briefings, prospect intelligence, and meeting prep materials. Track opportunities and ensure timely follow‑up and coordination. Develop tailored outreach materials, talking points, and strategic insights. Lead planning for major industry conferences and sponsored events. Manage schedules, sponsorship deliverables, and briefing materials. Support client and prospect engagement opportunities at events. Coordinate post‑event debriefs and ensure follow‑up actions are completed. Manage end‑to‑end pitches, proposals, and RFP responses. Serve as project manager to ensure timely, high‑quality deliverables. Design and manage client‑facing programs such as alerts, webinars, CLEs, and education campaigns. Manage opportunity tracking, dashboards, and BD reporting. Ensure CRM data accuracy and segmentation. Serve as a senior member of the Marketing & BD team. Partner with the CMO and senior timekeepers on key initiatives.
Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required. Must have at least eight or more years of experience in business development, client relationship management, or pursuit management within a professional services or law firm environment. Experience leading strategic pursuits and managing complex proposals or RFPs. Experience supporting major conferences and events, including pre-event planning and post-event follow up. Proven ability to develop client-facing programs such as webinars, CLEs, alerts, or thought leadership content. Experience with Information Law (eDiscovery, data privacy, information governance, AI governance) preferred. Project management and organizational skills. Excellent research, analytical, and writing abilities. Ability to develop compelling, tailored BD materials and insights. Proficiency with CRM systems and BD analytics. Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic, virtual, and collaborative environment. Salary Range:$180k - $200k depending on experience and location.
Director of Business Development – for top tier global law firm in Washington, DC. This role provides strategic direction for practice/industry initiatives, high-stakes pitches and pursuits, client targeting, market intelligence, and the integration of lateral partners. The Director leads a team of professionals supporting regulatory practices and collaborates with practice leaders and other key stakeholders firmwide to deliver growth initiatives.
Duties: Serve as strategic advisor to practice chairs and group leaders. Oversee firmwide business development activities, leading the development and execution of practice and industry business plans. Manage high-impact pitches and RFP responses. Lead strategic industry and sector initiatives. Coach partners and senior lawyers for key client meetings and pitches. Facilitate business development training for attorneys. Manage business development integration of lateral partners. Manage the continuous development of CRM and other database analytics to support client development. Mentor and lead a high-performing business development team. Partner with marketing and practice leadership to enhance the client experience. Salary is $245k - $340k. Senior Proposal Manager- Corporate – for top tier global law firm. This hybrid position can be based out of Washington, DC, NYC or Boston, MA. This position is solely focused on corporate practice proposal management. **Ideal candidate is either: large law firm Associate with or without Business Development experience with an interest in focusing solely on corporate proposals; or proposal manager experience in a large law firm. This role collaborates closely with transactional lawyers and the corporate business development team.
Duties: Lead the development of pitch decks/proposals utilizing PowerPoint, and Word. This role requires an understanding of the corporate practice strengths and how M&A, Securities and Capital Markets and transactional practices work. The senior manager works closely with senior lawyers and the business development team to articulate the value proposition and build persuasive content tailored to each client. Work with senior lawyers to understand the opportunity and draw out essential messaging and approach. Draft tailored pitches/proposals/RFP responses. Write/edit/maintain a library of reusable materials to ensure efficient response process with most up-to-date experience and awards. Maintain descriptions in firm’s experience database. Use marketing research to leverage insights into tailored proposals. Own the proposal development process from initial request to final delivery. Work closely with partners/stakeholders to ensure incorporation of varied feedback into presentations. Maintain all pitch/proposal/RFP-related activities and materials within the centralized CRM system. Provide updates on business development activities/track success metrics. Uphold high standards of confidentiality, discretion, and integrity.
Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree is a plus. Experience in business development in a law firm or investment bank or consulting firm. Understanding of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and other transactional services. Interest in the M&A market. Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills. Experience working collaboratively across multiple teams and levels of management. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM systems. Salary range is $176k - $258k+++++ or more, commensurate with experience and location.
